TROPHÉE: JULES VERNE - is a race with a prescribed set of rules, limited to sailing yachts, and a predetermined course. The event pitches unlimited yacht designs with unlimited crew numbers against one another at any time of the year, not as an organised race, but an event to suit the competitor. No holds barred. So improving on the speeds of previous title holders.

In 2005 Bruno Peyron again recovered the record from Olivier de Kersauson. In smashing the record by 14 days, he probably thought the record would be his for a very long time. This challenge is not just about the latest tech and a bigger boat with more sail area. It is about catching a break with a thoroughly planned voyage, looking for the perfect weather opportunity to execute said plan. But that is where you are at the mercy of the elements. It is always a gamble.

HISTORY

The team set a new circumnavigation record in 2010 and won the Jules Verne Trophée with a time of 50 days, 16 hours 20 minutes and 4 seconds.
